August 31st Meet and Greet Recap
We finished a four-day meet and greet marathon at Utepils Brewing on Thursday evening. The discussion covered a wide range of topics, from public housing to working with the city council. Highlights are below.
On public housing:
A: Every mayor in every large city is facing this problem. @RepMaxineWaters has a bill for public housing. Mayors must unite & push for it.— Tom Hoch (@TomHochMpls) September 1, 2017
On reforming the recruitment process for the police department:
We want police officers who are involved & invested in our communities. We need to recruit people who have demonstrated involvement.— Tom Hoch (@TomHochMpls) September 1, 2017
A: Without good screening, training & accountability it doesn't matter where they live. Having officers live here isn't a quick fix.— Tom Hoch (@TomHochMpls) September 1, 2017
On working with city council:
I plan to work on a project with each city council member. That way even when we disagree we'll have common ground. It's about relationships— Tom Hoch (@TomHochMpls) September 1, 2017
On Sunday, I will be at the State Fair participating in a debate with the other mayoral candidates. You'll find us at the WCCO Radio booth. Be sure to stop by if you plan to be at the Fair on Sunday, September 3rd!
Reminder: yard signs are in. You can pick one up or have it delivered by a member of our field team.
